Screw Machining of Plated, Brass Knobs for the Medical Industry
A client in the medical industry approached Hollander Machine for manufacture of a brass/chrome plated knob that would be used in a fastener application. We employed screw machining to turn, center drill, knurl, groove, and form the diameter of the knob. The finished part measured .873″ long with an outer diameter from 1.144″ down to .630″ and an inner diameter of .419″. This knob was machined from brass and then finished with chrome plating to meet the sanitary requirements of the medical industry. Working within manufacturing tolerances of ±.005″, we performed in-process testing to ensure accuracy and quality.
