Custom Centerless Grinding Precision Steel Dowel Pins

Hollander Machine, a leading provider of machined parts and custom centerless grinding manufactured a multi-function dowel pin that was used in the automotive, oil, and mining industries. Used as a bell housing locating pin, an anti-rotational pin, and a dowel fastener, this dowel pin was made from 12L steel, 1018 steel, 52100 steel, or HSS 01 depending on the requirements of the customer. The outside diameter was formed and the pin was chamfered on our Traub screw machine, and then the outer diameter was ground using our Cincinnati centerless grinding machine. The pins measured a minimum of .500″ long to a maximum of 8.000″ with an outer diameter of 3.00″ down to .125″. We applied a black oxide coating and heat treated the pins to Rockwell “C” scale of 45 to 62, as requested by the client. After in-process inspections ensured that all products met our high quality standards, the pins were delivered to the customer’s facilities in the U.S. and Scotland.
