Centerless Grinding of Precision Steel Pins for the Machinery and Tool Industry
Steel pins used in the machine tool industry are essential for proper drilling and boring applications. Aware of our expertise in producing high-quality steel parts, using screw machines and centerless grinding, United States & Japanese clients in the machine tool industry came to us for pilot pins, pilot banks, and locating pins. The fabrication process began with bearing-quality E52100 U.S. steel and HSS 01 decarb free that was machined, heat treated then ground to the specifications of the customer. Precise angles were achieved on our Unison DedTru surface grinder. The pins had an overall length of up to 8.00″, an outer diameter from 1/8″ to 3/8″ and a slot/lubrication/oil groove or flat was ground into each pin. We maintained tightest manufacturing tolerances to ±.0002″ throughout each process.
